Polokwane City Maintains Top Spot as Spurs Drop Points

Polokwane City secured their place at the top of the Motsepe Foundation
Championship table after a 2-0 victory over Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila
on Sunday. Rise and Shine took their lead in the standings to two points
over second-placed Cape Town Spurs, while Tshakhuma remain in 15th
position, four points above the relegation spot.

Pretoria Callies also secured a win on Sunday, beating Black Leopards 2-1
to take them up to ninth in the league standings. Leopards, however,
remain rooted to the bottom.

University of Pretoria and Venda Football Academy played out a 1-1 draw,
with Khomotso Marebane opening the scoring for the home side in the first
half and Rhulani Manzini equalising from the penalty spot on 67 minutes.

Cape Town Spurs saw their four-game winning streak come to an end on
Saturday after a 1-1 draw with Hungry Lions. Ashley Cupido opened the
scoring with his 14th league goal in the second half, before Muzomuhle
Khanyi levelled matters from the penalty spot three minutes from time.

Baroka dropped to ninth place on the league standings after a 1-1 draw
with NB La Masia. Dan Ndlovu opened the scoring for the home side after
the break, before Yusuf Jappie equalised for the visitors on his birthday.

Uthongathi made it back-to-back wins in the league after a 3-1 victory
over JDR Stars at the Giant Stadium. Ishmael Wadi gave Stars the lead
early in the first half, before Tshepo Liphoko equalised for the visitors.
Thato Mohlamme and Mondli Mbanjwa then both found the net in the second
half to hand Uthongathi the win.

Casric Stars’ promotion push suffered a blow after playing to a goalless
draw against Magesi FC on Saturday evening. The draw leaves Stars in third
spot, while Magesi find themselves in 11th.

All Stars and Platinum City Rovers also played out a 1-1 draw on Saturday.
The result leaves All Stars in sixth place, 11 points adrift of a play-off
spot, while Rovers sit in 10th.
