Mamelodi Sundowns had a successful weekend in the DStv Diski Challenge,
as they claimed a 1-0 win over Kaizer Chiefs on Sunday afternoon and moved
to the top of the log.
The Brazilians had the game’s only goal in the 64th minute, with Keabetswe
Ramotsei slotting home from close range after being set up by Mzwekhaya
Nkonxeni.
The win was followed by another impressive performance by Orlando Pirates,
who thrashed Chippa United 3-0 on Saturday afternoon. Mbokezeli Mbokazi
opened the scoring for the Buccaneers in the 52nd minute, before Mohau
Nkota doubled the lead six minutes later. Senzelumusa Sibiya then wrapped
up the victory in second-half stoppage time.
Moroka Swallows also got their first win of the season on Sunday
afternoon, as they comprehensively beat Cape Town Spurs 3-0. Owethu
Khumalo was the star on the day, as he managed to bag a brace for the Dube
Birds in the second half.
Elsewhere, Stellenbosch FC made it back-to-back wins after defeating Royal
AM 3-1 on Sunday morning. The Young Maroons got their goals through Mervin
Boji, Langelihle Phili and Shaakir Ahmed.
