Starting XI: TS Galaxy vs. Sundowns – Sirino Returns to the Squad!

Mamelodi Sundowns will kick off their Carling Knockout Cup campaign when
they travel to Mbombela Stadium to face TS Galaxy on Wednesday evening.
The Brazilians are coming off a loss in the MTN8 final, where they were
defeated 3-1 on penalties by Orlando Pirates.

Sundowns will be without seven players, who are with the South African
national team in Ivory Coast, including goalkeeper Ronwen Williams, Themba
Zwane, Aubrey Modiba, Khuliso Mudau, Teboho Mokoena, Grant Kekana and
Mothobi Mvala. Mokoena would have been unavailable regardless, as he is
suspended for the accumulation of yellow cards.

TS Galaxy, on the other hand, are looking to redeem their early season
form, having gone winless in their last five matches and losing three of
those games. This will be the first time the Rockets will be playing in
the League Cup, as the Telkom Knockout was discontinued by the time they
bought the Premiership status of Highlands Park in 2020.

The last team to win the League Cup under previous sponsors Telkom was
Mamelodi Sundowns in the 2019/20 season.

The match will be an interesting one to follow, with both teams looking to
make a statement. To listen to the full debate on the Fan Reaction Show,
