Kaizer Chiefs are reportedly keen to extend the contract of defender
Njabulo Ngcobo beyond its current expiration date of June 2024. Sources at
the club have indicated that despite the signings of two new defenders,
management feels Ngcobo could play an integral role in the team this
season and beyond.
Negotiations for the former Defender of the Season’s contract extension
have already commenced, with the technical team reportedly believing in
his ability and what he brings to training.
A different source has stated that a proposed one-year contract extension
is under discussion and an agreement could be concluded before December to
avoid him becoming a free agent.
“Management has been prompted to talk about extending his contract. So
that’s good for both the player and the club. They are happy with what
they are getting from him to compete with the other defenders and other
players as well,” the source said.
PSLSA contacted Chiefs for comment but no response was received while this
story was prepared.
