Kaizer Chiefs head coach Molefi Ntseki has given Samkelo Zwane hope that
the opportunity to play will come in the near future. Zwane, who was
promoted to the senior team last season, has made just three appearances for
the Soweto giants this term, all as a second half substitute.
Ntseki believes that Zwane is a quality player and that he will get his
chance soon. “He was promoted because he is a quality player. I think he
played a few games because he is a good player and competition is very
fair at Kaizer Chiefs. I think you are fully aware that we are using him
as a six and in the past few games we had Yusuf Maart playing as a six and
Yusuf did well in those games. Then we brought in Sibongiseni Mthethwa
into the team, so it’s a good competition for the number six role at the
club,” he said.
The Kaizer Chiefs mentor further added that Zwane is working hard and his
time will come soon. “The young man is working very hard and he is doing
well. His time will come and when that time comes, he will take the number
six role and then the older guys will have to fight to take him out of the
team. I think it has happened with the rest of the players. We started the
season with Given Msimango and then Njabulo Ngcobo was given an opportunity
and he has been doing well. So, the rest of the players are waiting
patiently to get their chance.”
Kaizer Chiefs will start their Carling Knockout campaign against AmaZulu at
FNB Stadium on Wednesday, 20 December. Ntseki will make a final call on the
availability of midfielder Edson Castillo just hours before the game.
Castillo was away on international duty with Venezuela and has had to travel
back from South America. He will have only one training session with the
team before the game.
