Chiefs’ Diski Team Maintains Top Position with Convincing Stellenbosch Victory

On Saturday morning, Kaizer Chiefs climbed to the top of the table after
hammering Stellenbosch 4-0 courtesy of a brace by Donay Jansen at FNB
Stadium.

Jansen scored twice late in the first stanza to give Chiefs a 2-0 lead at
the break.

Siphesihle Tati made it 3-0 for Vela Khumalo’s charges early in the
second stanza and Neo Bohloko completed the rout with 18 minutes
remaining. Orlando Pirates won their third game in a row after thrashing
Polokwane City 3-0 on Sunday morning at Rand Stadium.

Ciniso Mazibuko broke the deadlock for Pirates just after the half-hour
mark and Mehluleli Maphumulo doubled their lead shortly before the
interval with a strike from the penalty spot.

Mpumelelo Ndaba secured the three points for Joseph Makhanya’s troops
with the third goal ten minutes before time.

Mamelodi Sundowns won their second successive game for the first time
after edging Swallows 2-1 on Saturday afternoon at Dobsonville Stadium.

Ramotsei and Letlhaku were on the scoresheet for Sundowns as they revived
their campaign after a slow start. Defending champions SuperSport United
remained winless after a 2-2 draw against Golden Arrows on Sunday morning
at TUT Stadium.

Mtshali opened the scoring for Arrows within 15 minutes and Mahlangu
equalised for United just after the hour-mark. Makubo gave SuperSport the
lead shortly after the hour-mark but Gumede ensured the share of the
spoils after he levelled matters for Abafana Bes’thende with 20 minutes to
go.

Cape Town City lost their third game in four matches after a 3-1 defeat
to Richards Bay on Saturday morning at Chatsworth Stadium.

Thulani Gumede gave the Natal Rich Boyz the lead within the first minute
and Simbonge Mdunge doubled their lead 11 minutes before the interval.
City pulled a goal back just before the hour-mark but Ntlonelo Bomelo
sealed the three points for Richards Bay, their first for the season 13
minutes before time.

Kaizer Chiefs are now top of the table with ten points, followed by
Orlando Pirates on the same points and goal difference.

Mamelodi Sundowns are sixth with eight points, SuperSport United are 13th
with two points, and Cape Town City are tenth with three points.
