Riveiro: Several Players Deserve to Play, But…

On Thursday, Orlando Pirates head coach Jose Riveiro was pleased to give
other players opportunities in their Carling Knockout win over Cape Town
Spurs. The Buccaneers defeated Spurs 2-0 at Orlando Stadium thanks to
goals from Thapelo Xoki and Kermit Erasmus.

The Soweto giants did lose goalkeeper Sipho Chaine in the first half,
which the Spanish coach felt disrupted their plans a bit. Riveiro told
SABC Sport TV after the match that the substitution changed the scenario
and they were running short of spots for substitutions in the second-half.

Riveiro was also able to give the likes of Vincent Pule and Karim Kimvuidi
some valuable minutes in the second half, while Thembinkosi Lorch and
Evidence Makgopa were able play from the start. He added that as a coach
he wants to use his resources as good as possible and that it was
important for the team and the competition to give other players an
opportunity.
