On Saturday evening, Kaizer Chiefs were knocked out of the Carling
Knockout after losing 1-0 to AmaZulu at the FNB Stadium. As the match
concluded, a few disgruntled supporters threw objects onto the pitch,
preventing the Amakhosi coach, Molefi Ntseki, from doing his post-match
interview.
The incident has put the Soweto giants at risk of receiving a potential
stadium ban for one game. This follows warnings from Premier Soccer League
prosecutor Zola Majavu last month, after Chiefs were found guilty of two
separate counts of spectator misbehaviour for similar incidents after the
defeats to SuperSport United and Mamelodi Sundowns.
Majavu warned that should Chiefs be found guilty of the same offence over
the next six months, they would be handed an automatic spectator ban for
their next match. This would mean that the fixture would be played without
fans on both sides.
Kaizer Chiefs have yet to respond to the incident, and it remains to be
seen whether they will be handed a stadium ban for their next match.
