Cavin Johnson has a tall order ahead of him as the interim head coach of Kaizer Chiefs. The experienced coach has to hit the ground running if he is to avoid the same fate as his predecessor, Molefi Ntseki. PSLSA takes a look at the areas Johnson must address in order to get Amakhosi back on track.
Johnson will need to address the goalkeeping situation at Kaizer Chiefs. Brandon Petersen has made some impressive saves but has also made costly mistakes that have cost the club points. Itumeleng Khune has stepped in at times, but has not been able to inspire the team. Johnson and his technical team must find a reliable solution to ensure that the goalkeeping department is not a source of worry.
Scoring has been a problem for Amakhosi since last season and has been carried into this campaign. The addition of Ranga Chivaviro and Jasond Gonzales has not had much of an impact, with Ashley du Preez being the team’s biggest threat. Johnson must find a way to get the best out of his strikers and address the team’s scoring problems.
The Soweto giants have not been convincing at home this season, with two wins in five league matches. This will be a concern for management and Johnson must look to improve the team’s home form.
