On Friday, Orlando Pirates and Polokwane City played to a 1-1 draw at Orlando Stadium. After Patrick Maswanganyi put the Buccaneers ahead in the first-half, Rise and Shine equalized through Mashikinya in the second-half.
Speaking after the game, Pirates head coach Jose Riveiro expressed his disappointment at not capitalizing on their chances to get the win. “Very tough game, we did the most difficult thing to get the lead, then we didn’t manage well to consolidate the result, they found a goal in a lost situation, in the second action, a bit lucky,” he said.
Riveiro added that the team had created enough chances to have scored more than one goal. “Again one point, we’re not satisfied with a point but it is what it is. I think we did enough to score more than one goal, we couldn’t capitalize one more time.”
The Spanish tactician also acknowledged that Polokwane City could have punished them in the first-half but they were unable to capitalize on their chances. “And they could have punished us in the first half, in one or two transitions where we were not defending well but I think the second-half maybe a bit tired after 60, 65 minutes. And they found one action, 1-1, they celebrate, we don’t, we move.”
