Orlando Pirates have had a string of disappointing results in recent times, including a 1-0 loss to Stellenbosch FC in the second leg of the MTN 8 semi-finals. On Saturday, however, they will have the chance to turn their fortunes around as they face Mamelodi Sundowns in the MTN8 final. The Brazilians have been in formidable form, having gone 32 games without a loss.
Former Sundowns and Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Josta Dladla believes Pirates will be the ones to lift the trophy on Saturday. In an exclusive interview with PSLSA, he said Pirates will want to prove a point and bounce back against the Brazilians.
“For me I would say Orlando Pirates will win this one and lift the trophy. There is no doubt that Sundowns are doing very well. They have played 10 games and only conceded three goals,” Dladla said. “But on this one I will give it to Pirates. They are like a wounded tiger and they want to bounce back from their slump by winning this one. Everyone would be thinking Sundowns would beat Pirates but if I was coach Rulani (Mokwena) I would be very cautious going into this game.”
Dladla added that he is looking forward to the final, as it promises to be an entertaining encounter between two good sides.
“Apart from Orlando Pirates winning the game and lifting the trophy, it will be an entertaining game. Both teams are playing good football but at the end of the day there should be a winner and that’s why I am putting my head on the block and say Pirates will win this one. Supporters will enjoy the game and the best team on the day will lift the trophy,” Dladla concluded.
