Kaizer Chiefs have been assessing former SuperSport United defender Luke Fleurs for close to a month, with the technical team reportedly impressed with the former youth international. Sources have indicated that the club is open to further strengthening their squad and have been considering signing Fleurs, who is a free agent.
“He has been doing very well at training and he had impressed the technical team. He is a good young player and they feel that he can add value to the team,” said a source close to the club.
Head coach Molefi Ntseki is said to have worked with the player at South Africa Under-17 national team level, and is reportedly aware of what Fleurs can offer the Amakhosi squad.
“The coach knows him already but they had to look at him at training because it’s a different environment from what he was used to at SuperSport United. So far he has done very well and that’s what has impressed the technical team,” the source added.
Fleurs’ agent Glyn Binkin confirmed that the player is still training with Chiefs and that they are waiting for the club to make a final decision. “He is still training with them and will do so until such time as they make a decision. He is happy and enjoying it there so it’s now up to the club to decide the way forward,” Binkin said.
