Ngezana Addresses Early Season Errors at Chiefs

Siyabonga Ngezana has credited his coach Arthur Zwane for his impressive turnaround in form this season.

The Kaizer Chiefs defender has been in fine form in recent weeks, playing a key role in the Amakhosi’s 1-0 Soweto Derby win over Orlando Pirates on Saturday.

Ngezana had found himself on the periphery of the Chiefs squad following some high-profile errors earlier in the campaign, which saw him miss five consecutive games for the Glamour Boys.

However, the lanky defender has since been able to turn his fortunes around, and has credited Zwane for the belief he has shown in him despite his earlier mistakes. Speaking to Vodacom’s Ringa Nathi, Ngezana said, “Everyone makes mistakes. What I like about coach Arthur is that he always tells me that football is a game of mistakes. If you don’t make mistakes, it means you are not a human being. And that’s how you grow, by not making the same mistakes and he was saying you think you are done making mistakes, but you’re still gonna make mistakes. It’s life.”

He added, “That is how I overcome situations, with the inspiration I get from the coach and the players, and it also shows people that we are human beings as professional players, so it’s also good when we make mistakes, it shows them that not everything will go smoothly in your life.”

Zwane has recently commended Ngezana, as well as Brandon Petersen and Siyethemba Sithebe, for their resurgence in form this season. The Amakhosi will now look to continue their winning form in their next game against TS Galaxy at Mbombela Stadium on Saturday.
