Rulani Sets the Record Straight: Responding to Alcohol Claims at Sundowns

Mamelodi Sundowns advanced to the quarterfinal of the Nedbank Cup after a convincing 3-1 win over Marumo Gallants on Thursday evening.

The Brazilians were led to victory by a Peter Shalulile hat-trick, but the post-match press conference was overshadowed by questions about claims of alcohol use by two unnamed players.

Mamelodi Sundowns head coach Rulani Mokwena refused to comment on the matter, saying: “I will never speak negative about my players, never, ever, ever. So, I’ve got no comment on that.”

The South African giants are set for a hectic month of March, with fixtures against Stellenbosch, Al Ahly, Royal AM, Al Hilal and Coton Sport.

Sundowns will be hoping to use the momentum gained from Thursday’s victory to propel them to success in the upcoming matches.
