Mamelodi Sundowns continued their impressive run in the Nedbank Cup with a 3-1 win over Marumo Gallants on Thursday night.
The Brazilians, who are the defending champions, were guided to victory by a hat-trick from Peter Shalulile.
Coach Rulani Mokwena was pleased with the result and felt the scoreline was a true reflection of the game.
He gave credit to the players for their hard work and effort, noting that the team created a lot of chances. Mokwena also likened Sundowns to Manchester City, saying that although many teams know how they create their chances, it is the players who make the difference.
He praised the experience of Denis Onyango, Mothobi Mvala, Mosa Lebusa, Themba Zwane and Bongani Zungu, as well as the leadership of Shalulile.
Sundowns will now progress to the quarter-finals of the Nedbank Cup, where they will be looking to defend their title.
