Orlando Pirates midfielder Fortune Makaringe’s future at the club is uncertain following the arrival of new coach Jose Riviero. The 29-year-old was a regular starter before Riviero’s arrival, but the coach has since preferred Ndabayithethwa Ndlondlo. Makaringe’s contract is set to expire on 30 June 2021, and sources have revealed that there is uncertainty regarding the player’s future.
“He is not sure of his future. His future actually hangs in the balance. There is nothing going on concerning his contract and that’s not good because its ending in June. So for now, he just has to be prepared that anything can happen,” a source revealed to the Siya crew.
Makaringe joined Pirates from Maritzburg United in 2019 on a four-year deal with no option to extend. Now, the club will have to decide whether to keep him or not.
The crowded Bucs midfield consists of the likes of Miguel Timm, Thabang Monare, Goodman Mosele, Ben Motshwari and Makhehlene Makhaula, and it remains to be seen if Makaringe will be part of the team next season.
