Ernst Middendorp, head coach of Swallows FC, expressed his disappointment with the fourth official after his team’s 4-1 defeat to Orlando Pirates at Dobsonville Stadium on Friday night.
“In the end, it was not [possible to boost survival hopes]. The incident with the fourth referee… I’m now 30 years in this business I haven’t had really a provocation from the fourth referee following me in my box, in a way to get me out of this game,” Middendorp said after the game.
The German coach went on to say that such incidents should not happen, and that officials should be neutral and professional.
Swallows FC have a lot of time to prepare for their next DStv Premiership match against Golden Arrows on 17 March, as they are not involved in the MTN8 action next weekend.
