On Friday morning, the draw for the first-ever Transition Football U17 Tournament was conducted at Pinnacle College Kyalami.
The tournament, which will take place from 7 to 9 April, will feature some of the country’s best under-17 players from teams such as Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns.
The tournament is hosted and organized by Transition Football, a club that recently partnered with Scottish giants, Celtic FC.
Veteran scout Godfrey Mosoetsa of SuperSport United spoke to PSLSA about the tournament, saying, “The tournament is filling the gap after some of the big tournaments, which we used to have like your Gauteng Future Champs, so other than the Engen Tournament, we’ve got the Bayhill u19 tournament, so you’ll always want to have these boys going through the various stages of development, not going through any of this.”
The tournament is set to provide a much-needed opportunity for the country’s young players to showcase their talent and continue their development.
Teams from all across South Africa will be present, with the likes of Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns set to take part.
The tournament is sure to be an exciting affair, with some of the country’s best young players set to take the field. It will be a great opportunity to see the future of South African football in action.
