Downs Contemplating Decision on Foreign Quota?

SuperSport United have moved quickly to secure the future of the club’s
promising young talent, tying them down to long-term contracts. After
convincing defender Luke Fleurs to extend his stay at the club by three
years, as previously reported by the Siya crew, Matsatsantsa have now
offered midfielder Neo Rapoo a new deal.

An insider has revealed to the Siya crew that by securing the players on
new deals, the club is keen on the duo possibly making a move abroad in
the future. “Yes these two youngsters have signed extensions to their
contracts. They will be at the team until 2028, and then maybe a move to
Europe could be allowed. But locally, I don’t think so. This is really
good for both the club and the players,” the source said.

Asked about the youngsters’ new long-term contracts, CEO Stan Matthews
confirmed that the club has tied down the players for a few more years.
“They are tied up for the next four years and some of them for five years.
The young ones Rapoo, Johannes, Maseko and Luke Fleurs have signed
extensions. So for us we are locking in the young talents. In Rapoo,
Johannes, Fleurs and Maseko, for sure, we have four Bafana players 100%
and their time is still early. For us, the future looks good. Now, we have
these guys wrapped up for a few more years. That’s good for us,” Matthews
said.

It has previously been reported that Kaizer Chiefs were interested in
signing Fleurs, but the move failed to materialize.
