On Wednesday, Siphesihle Ndlovu opened up on his decision to accept a
one-year deal with SuperSport United, which is due to expire at the end of
June. The deal includes an option to extend for another season, but Ndlovu
has confirmed that the club has yet to indicate if they will keep him
beyond the expiration of his contract.
Ndlovu chose to accept the one-year deal in order to rediscover his
passion for the game after struggling to break into the team on a regular
basis at Orlando Pirates.
“Definitely it’s something that you’d want as a player. You can’t rely on
a one-year deal. But a one-year deal for me was to make sure that I bring
myself up, which is why we agreed on a one-year deal, so that if they are
happy with me, then we negotiate going forward. That was the main reason
for me to come here and sign a one-year deal,” Ndlovu told the Siya crew.
Ndlovu also revealed that he would prefer to stay in Gauteng, as it is
far from his home in Pietermaritzburg.
During the times he was not playing at Pirates, Ndlovu admitted that there
were times when it would frustrate him. He said, “Sometimes it gets to a
point where you get frustrated, because you would work extra hard and get
no reward. Sometimes you get frustrated and you get sluggish. But as a
footballer, you need to try to make sure your mind is strong and keep
pushing until you get your chance. When you get your chance, that’s when
you grab it. It’s like you proving them wrong in why they didn’t play
you.”
