Kaizer Chiefs may be looking to emulate Orlando Pirates’ success by appointing a striker coach. This was revealed by head coach Arthur Zwane, who believes that the game has evolved and that the Amakhosi need to strengthen their attacking department.
Since the appointment of Scott Chickelday, the former Tottenham Hotspur coach, as a striker coach for the Buccaneers, they have managed seven goals in two games compared to just two goals in four games prior to that.
“Maybe going forward, we might look to strengthen that department of maybe getting a striker coach, who can help us because there’s so much going on in the game,” said Zwane.
Chiefs’ top goalscorer this season is Caleb Bimenyimana, who has managed seven goals, while Keagan Dolly and Ashley Du Preez have four and three strikes, respectively.
The Glamour Boys have also recently roped in Christian Basomboli, the Congolese striker who has managed seven goals in 18 matches in Zambia.
The possibility of Chiefs appointing a striker coach is becoming more and more likely, and it could be the answer to their goalscoring woes.
