South African forward Lyle Foster could be set to become the country’s most expensive player yet, with reports suggesting he has agreed a bumper deal to join English Championship outfit Burnley.
Despite having two offers rejected by his Belgian club Westerlo, Burnley have reportedly made progress in their pursuit of the 22-year-old, with the player having agreed personal terms and set to jet out to England for a medical.
The reported €7 million (±R130m) deal could rise to €10 million (±R186m) with add-ons, surpassing Steven Pienaar’s €3.6 million (±R67m) move from Everton to Tottenham in 2011.
Foster has scored eight goals and provided four assists in 21 matches this season and could be playing in the Premier League next season, should Burnley remain top of the Championship.
