Mamelodi Sundowns have been accused of ‘killing’ the DStv Premiership, with some coaches and notable personalities in the local fraternity questioning their spending habits.
However, South Africa’s most decorated player Daine Klate has come out in defence of the Brazilians, suggesting that the problem lies not with Sundowns’ spending, but with the rest of the clubs’ inability to replicate what the Chloorkop outfit are doing.
Klate, who has spent years plotting Sundowns’ downfall as a player, believes that the rest of the clubs need to catch up with the Brazilians in order to compete. He highlighted the fact that some clubs do not have the necessary training facilities, which presents an obstacle to success.
The 39-year-old’s comments come as Sundowns are on course to lift their sixth successive league title, with an impressive 16-point gap over their closest competitors Richards Bay with 18 matches played.
Klate’s views echo those of many in the local football fraternity, who believe that the rest of the clubs need to invest and develop their structures in order to compete with the Brazilians.
I think lets leave Sundowns and start talking about what the rest must must do to get to that level!!!! Some dont have training facilities how will success arrive?

Sundowns have undoubtedly set the standard in South African football in recent years, and it remains to be seen whether the rest of the league can catch up and provide more competition in the coming seasons.
