South Africa’s most expensive player, Lyle Foster, has penned a new deal with Burnley, which is likely to make him the country’s highest paid player.
The 23-year-old signed a one-year extension on his existing contract on Thursday, and reports out of England suggest that his initial deal saw him pocket approximately £20 000 (±R461 000) a week and an annual salary of around £1.04 million (±R23.9m) per year.
Foster has made a bright start to life in the Premier League, having scored three goals with two assists in his first seven games this season.
Vincent Kompany’s side have shown their faith in the Bafana Bafana man with the new deal, which is likely to include more financial benefits.
Foster is now set to become the highest paid South African player.
