Kaizer Chiefs will look to start a new chapter under interim coach Cavin Johnson when they visit Golden Arrows in the DStv Premiership on Saturday afternoon. Amakhosi are currently eighth on the log with 11 points and have lost four out of their five matches in all competitions. Meanwhile, Abafana Bes’thende are third on the table with 17 points and have won three consecutive games in the league and Carling Knockout.
The Glamour Boys have announced that Edmilson Dove, Ashley Du Preez and Siyethemba Sithebe are all out injured for this clash. Arrows, on the other hand, will be oozing confidence as they carried their league form into the Carling Knockout after progressing to the quarter-finals with a 3-1 thrashing of Cape Town City.
The sides had a win apiece in their duels last season as Chiefs beat Arrows 2-0 in the first round away and Abafana Bes’thende turned the tables with a 3-2 win at Peter Mokaba Stadium.
Golden Arrows line up as Watenga, Shitolo, Ndwandwe, Dube, Mantshiyane, Cross, van Rooi, Mutizwa, Theron, Sibiya, and Tlolane. Kaizer Chiefs line up as Petersen, Hlanti, Ditlhokwe, Ngcobo, Frosler, Maart, Castillo, Mthethwa, Shabalala, Dolly, and Saile.
The match between Golden Arrows and Kaizer Chiefs is set to kick off at 15h30 at the Mpumalanga Stadium on Saturday, 28 October 2023. Both sides will be looking to secure the three points and start a new era for their respective clubs.
