It has been reported that Orlando Pirates are interested in signing Golden Arrows midfielder Nduduzo Sibiya.
The 28-year-old is said to have been monitored by the Buccaneers for some time, although their interest in him waned as they pursued Bafana Bafana midfielder Sibongiseni Mthethwa, who ended up signing for rivals Kaizer Chiefs.
According to Siya sources in both camps, Pirates are now looking to strengthen their midfield and could be set to make a move for Sibiya.
“It’s not the first time that Pirates have inquired about him. They have been monitoring him for some time now,” said a source.
“But when they wanted to sign Sibongiseni Mthethwa they stopped asking about him. Yes, they are okay in different positions but the team feels after failing to get Mthethwa they can now go for Nduduzo (Sibiya).” A second source stated that the player is in high demand.
“Yes, he is a wanted man. I am not the one to say it’s Pirates or not. But they have been monitoring him for some time now though at one point the interest died down, it has resurfaced now. We will see what will happen in the next transfer window or even at the end of the season,” said the source.
Sibiya has grown his reputation over the past two seasons, becoming a dependable midfielder in the process. Neither Pirates nor Arrows have responded to requests for comment.
