The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has announced that this year’s CAF Awards will take place in Morocco on 11 December. South Africa’s Mamelodi Sundowns have been nominated for the Team of the Year award, while two of their star players, goalkeeper Ronwen Williams and striker Peter Shalulile, have been nominated for individual awards.
Williams, who joined Sundowns in a blockbuster move from SuperSport United, has been nominated for the Best Goalkeeper award. He will compete against Mohammed El Shanawy, Yassine Bonou, Andre Onana, and Edouard Mendy amongst others.
Shalulile, meanwhile, has been nominated in the Player of the Year category. He will compete against the likes of Mohamed Salah and Victor Osimhen.
Sundowns will compete against the likes of Al Ahly, Raja Casablanca, Young Africans, and Marumo Gallants for the Team of the Year award. Marumo Gallants had a stellar run in the CAF Confederations Cup despite their relegation from the Premiership.
