Rushine De Reuck and Peter Shalulile were on target for the Brazilians, who now sit 19 points clear at the top of the log. Sundowns coach Rulani Mokwena was pleased with his side’s performance, but felt they should have scored more.
“It’s clear that only one team was on the pitch, and I’d like to congratulate the entire group of players and coaches,” he said.
“We created so many chances, we could have scored so many goals – that’s why I don’t agree when you say ‘hard-fought’ because we made it seem a little more difficult than what it was.”
The Brazilians will now face in-form Sekhukhune United on Saturday, as they look to extend their winning streak to 14 games.
