With the future of Khama Billiat at Kaizer Chiefs still uncertain, there are a number of factors that the club are considering as they make their decision. The Siya crew understands that the Amakhosi are weighing up the player’s age, form and salary package as they decide on his future.
Billiat, who is 33 in August, has not featured for Chiefs since October last year and has been hampered by injury. His current salary package makes him one of the highest paid players at Naturena, but with age and injuries taking their toll, the club are expected to consider these factors when making their decision.
The Siya crew has also heard that there have been some concerns over the player’s form this season, having only registered four assists in the current campaign. Chiefs have not always given players of Billiat’s age long-term deals and have previously parted ways with experienced campaigners, such as Reneilwe Letsholonyane, Tinashe Nengomasha, Willard Katsande and Bernard Parker.
Chiefs are still on a mission to build a squad that will compete for silverware and some of the experienced campaigners, such as Billiat and Mulomowandau Mathoho, may not feature in the plans. Should Billiat stay at Naturena, a salary cut may not be ruled out.
