Kaizer Chiefs veteran Cole Alexander looks set to part ways with the club at the end of the season, according to reports reaching the Siya crew. The 33-year-old midfielder has suffered from a number of injuries, and is believed to have fallen out of favour with the technical team.
Alexander joined Chiefs from Indian side Odisha in 2021, signing a three-year deal. However, with game-time seemingly hard to come by, indications are that the midfielder will assess his options at the end of the campaign.
A source close to the club revealed to the Siya crew, “It looks certain that (Alexander) will leave at the end of the season. He is currently out with injury and I don’t think even if he recovers, that he would have that chance to play again, looking at the remainder of the season and also the players the coach prefers ahead of him. Yes, he has one year remaining on his contract but the team and the player can always work around that. Its either they put him on the transfer list or they agree on a release clause. But all that will be discussed towards the end of the season. But what I can tell you now, is that he is not in the technical team’s plans going ahead.”
Alexander has played for a number of local teams including Polokwane City, SuperSport United and Bidvest Wits, before making the move to India.
