Former Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Brent Carelse has spoken out on the current situation of Andile Jali, who has been in the spotlight for the wrong reasons. Reports suggest that the former Orlando Pirates midfielder has been frustrated by his lack of game-time and has had a strained relationship with the technical team.
Carelse told the Siya crew that Jali has performed to the level that the club expects him to perform and is a quality player who will be needed for Sundowns. “I look at his performance on the field and because of that, I would try to keep him,” said Carelse.
Jali’s contract with the DStv Premiership champions is due to expire at the end of June and his agent Mike Makaab recently told the Siya crew that he would like to have the matter sorted out as soon as possible, so that they know what happens next in the player’s career. Jali has made 15 appearances in all competitions, but has only featured three times in 2023, a major concern for him. This, as the Siya crew has been informed, could lead to his exit.
