PSL prosecutor Zola Majavu revealed that the Buccaneers pleaded guilty to the charge and were fined a monitory amount of R50 000, half of which is suspended for a period of 12 months on condition that they are not found guilty of the same offence during the suspension.
The fine comes after Pirates were found to have watered their pitch at Orlando Stadium contrary to the regulation prior to kick-off of the match. Despite the sanction, the Buccaneers went on to claim a 3-1 victory on the day, which ended the club’s three-game losing streak in the league.
Jose Riveiro’s charges will resume league action on Saturday night with a trip to struggling Marumo Gallants.
