On Monday, South African football side Bafana Bafana have been dealt yet
another blow to their squad ahead of their international friendly against
Eswatini this Friday. Orlando Pirates star Monnapule Saleng has withdrawn
from the squad due to the injury he sustained in the MTN8 final last
weekend.
The withdrawal of Saleng has forced coach Hugo Broos to call up
reinvigorated Khanyisa Mayo, who has rediscovered his scoring touch for
Cape Town City this season. Mayo, the joint DStv Premiership goal scorer
last season, experienced a slump in form at the start of the 2023/24
campaign. However, he has now scored three goals in his last four matches
for the Citizens in the league and will be hoping to replicate that form
for the national team.
The international friendly between Bafana Bafana and Eswatini takes place
at FNB Stadium this Friday, kick off at 18:00.
