Sibisi on Pirates’ Turnaround: Addressing Our Achilles Heel

Orlando Pirates defender Nkosinathi Sibisi has expressed his delight at the team’s recent success, following their third consecutive win in the DStv Premiership, as they beat Marumo Gallants 2-0 over the weekend.

The Buccaneers had a tough start to the season after the FIFA World Cup break, losing two successive games, but have since turned things around with three straight wins. Sibisi believes the team had a big challenge in Rustenburg, playing against a side fighting “for their lives”.

“It feels great to get the win away from home. We knew it was not going to be easy you know coming to a Marumo side, a very good playing team,” Sibisi told the club’s media after he was named Man of the Match.

“We knew we had to fight, we had the game in our hands, we wanted to make it three in a row and I’m glad we’re finally getting that consistency.”

In the run of three consecutive wins, the Buccaneers have scored nine goals in the process, with forward players finally coming to the party. Sibisi praised the team’s attacking players and says they are happy for them for finally getting back their scoring touch.

“We’re happy for our forward players, they are doing an immense job you know, converting those chances, it has been our Achilles heel you know, first round of the season but now we’re finally getting them (goals),” he said.

“So I’m very happy for them and I’m very happy for the clean sheet as well,” he added.
