On Wednesday night, Victor Letsoalo scored a brace as Sekhukhune United earned a 3-2 victory over Marumo Gallants at the Peter Mokaba Stadium.
Sekhukhune United coach Brandon Truter opted to start Chibuike Ohizu in the attack, while Marumo Gallants recalled Ayanda Nkili to the starting line-up. The decision to include Ohizu paid off when he opened the scoring in the 27th minute, capitalizing on Washington Arubi’s error.
However, Celimpilo Ngema pulled the visitors level two minutes later. Letsoalo restored Sekhukhune’s lead three minutes before the break with his third league goal of the campaign. In the 76th minute, Letsoalo completed his brace to give Sekhukhune a 3-1 lead.
Marumo Gallants coach Dan Malesela brought on Joseph Malongoane in the 60th minute, who scored the winner in this fixture last season.
The visitors did pull a goal back through Sibeko in second half stoppage time, but it proved to be too little too late as Sekhukhune held on for the win. The victory sees Sekhukhune United climb up to 12th spot, while Marumo Gallants find themselves in 14th position.
