Cape Town City have confirmed that they have parted ways with veteran midfielder Mpho Makola on transfer deadline day.
The 36-year-old joined the Citizens in 2019 and had become a key figure at the club, working with the likes of Benni McCarthy, Jan Olde Riekerink and Eric Tinkler during his time there.
Makola had his run-ins with the PSL law, particularly when the PSL Disciplinary Committee handed him a two-month suspension as a result of his aggressive outburst during the Citizens’ MTN8 final loss to Mamelodi Sundowns.
This season, Makola featured in 15 matches in total for the Citizens in all competitions.
The club confirmed the news on their social media platforms, with the parting being by mutual consent.
It remains to be seen where the experienced midfielder will ply his trade next.
