Mamelodi Sundowns coach Rulani Mokwena has addressed the transfer speculation surrounding midfielder Lesedi Kapinga after the player’s impressive performance in the Nedbank Cup.
Kapinga was rumoured to be leaving the club during the January transfer window, however, no deal materialised and he remained at Chloorkop.
Kapinga put in a stellar performance against Richards Bay on Tuesday evening, providing two assists in the 2-1 victory.
When questioned about the player’s future, Mokwena revealed that Kapinga wants to remain at the club. “They’re all here because they want to be here,” Mokwena told journalists.
“They’re all available for selection. There were a lot of good individual performances today and that’s why the team performance was very good.” Kapinga played 79 minutes of the match before being substituted due to injury.
This was just the sixth appearance of the season for the midfielder. Mokwena’s comments come after a successful season for the Brazilians, with the coach breaking several records in his first full season in charge.
