Kaizer Chiefs earned a hard-fought 2-0 win over Maritzburg United in the Nedbank Cup on Friday night.
The Soweto giants needed extra time to see off their opposition, who had Travis Graham sent off in the first half.
Head coach Arthur Zwane praised the impact of substitute Happy Mashiane, who played a key role in both goals, including getting the assist for Ashley du Preez’s goal.
Zwane explained that the team had identified Peprah as a potential threat and had instructed his players to allow him to hold the ball before they attacked.
Mashiane’s introduction in the 80th minute helped to turn the game in Chiefs’ favour, with the youngster playing a number of dangerous balls into the box. The result sees Chiefs progress to the next round of the Nedbank Cup.
