Zungu Comments on His Concerning Situation at Sundowns

Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Bongani Zungu has opened up about his situation at the club ahead of their CAF Champions League assignment in Cameroon.

Since rejoining the Chloorkop outfit in August last year, the 30-year-old has been playing catch-up in terms of his fitness, and has enjoyed relatively less game time than initially anticipated.

However, speaking to the media ahead of their match against Coton Sport, Zungu insists that he is putting in the work to garner a regular spot in the starting XI. “I made a decision to come back and play for one of the biggest teams in Africa, a team with great ambition. You know, to succeed and compete against the best in Africa. Since I’ve left Sundowns and coming back, there’s been a tremendous improvement in all corners of the club and the players that we have now have big quality, so for me, it’s just it has been about working hard and I’m playing for a team that is doing very well,” Zungu said.

He added, “It doesn’t matter who starts. It’s up to the coach who he starts and as I just mentioned that for me it’s just to continue working hard and be patient and wait and wait for my chance and when the chance does come, you know just grabbing both hands.”
