Golden Arrows are believed to be making a last-ditch attempt to retain the services of a sought-after star, Pule Mmodi, amid interest from Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates. With Abafana Bes’thende visiting Amakhosi for their DStv Premiership fixture at the Peter Mokaba Stadium on Sunday, Mmodi will have the chance to further impress in order to realize his dream of playing for the Soweto giants.
Since the end of last season, Mmodi has been linked with Chiefs and Pirates among other clubs, with the Bafana Bafana international expected to be one of the names to headline during the July/August transfer window.
The 29-year-old winger’s Arrows contract is set to expire at the end of the season, and while the KwaZulu-Natal outfit has been unsuccessful in previous attempts to extend the player’s deal, indications are that the club hasn’t given up on potentially securing the player’s future in the coming weeks.
“The player hasn’t signed anywhere (despite Chiefs’ pre-contract reports), and Arrows are still hopeful of retaining him. He is an important member of their team,” said a source close to the club.
