Saturday, saw two clubs make an approach for Black Leopards striker Tiklas Thutlwa. According to a source close to both the player and the club, Kaizer Chiefs offered in the region of R3 million for the player’s services, while Stellenbosch FC offered R4 million. However, the struggling Motsepe Foundation side refused to let go of its star player.
Thutlwa was last season’s Motsepe Foundation Championship’s top goalscorer with 16 goals and has been linked to a number of DStv Premiership clubs. It is believed that Leopards chairman David Thidiela, declined the offers due to fears of relegation, with the team currently bottom of the First Division log on 13 points after 18 games.
The source revealed that the team had invested heavily in Thutlwa when he was injured towards the end of last season and, as a result, Thidiela is not willing to let him go. “He said he wants every player to help the team survive in the Motsepe Foundation Championship and maybe he can reconsider those offers but it’s not guaranteed that he will let him go,” they added.
