European clubs are reportedly keeping a close eye on Orlando Pirates winger Monnapule Saleng, with two unnamed teams believed to be interested in the player. According to sources close to the team, representatives from the interested clubs are expected to attend the upcoming Soweto Derby this weekend, in order to assess Saleng’s performance.
A source revealed to the Siya crew: “I can tell you know that he could leave as early as June this year if all goes well. As to where will he go will depend on which team tables the best offer to Pirates. But some representatives of the team interested in him are supposed to come this weekend and watch the Soweto Derby where he is expected to play. They have watched him play against Mamelodi Sundowns and other teams and now they want to see how he can perform in a derby. But they are seriously interested in him. That I can confirm with you.”
Saleng joined Pirates from Free State Stars in 2021, where he was the then GladAfrica top goalscorer with 16 goals that season. He had previously played for Orbit College in 2019. The 24-year-old has been one of the standout players for the Buccaneers this season.
