Former Mamelodi Sundowns star Sibusiso Vilakazi has finally broken his silence on his departure from TS Galaxy, revealing the real reason behind his exit from the Mbombela-based club.
Vilakazi, 33, is currently a free agent after leaving the club in October. It had been suggested that a lack of effort and commitment to the cause was the reason for his exit, however, the player has since revealed that it was due to his child’s illness.
“My child’s illness disturbed me a lot. It got to the point where we couldn’t sleep anymore. He was fainting and convulsing. At night this thing has been happening to him 10 to 14 times. We had to take him out of school,” Vilakazi told Isolezwe.
Despite his child’s illness, Vilakazi returned to the club and was subsequently banished to the DStv Diski side. He said that coach Sead Ramovic told him that he was no longer needed due to the way he plays and the tactics he uses.
“I humbled myself, I apologized to him and to all the people that I may have disappointed or saw that I wasn’t giving myself. But the coach told me that he doesn’t need me because of the way he plays and the tactics he uses, he told me to speak to Tim Sukazi. I said goodbye, we shook hands. That’s when I left the team,” Vila added.
Vilakazi’s departure from TS Galaxy marks the end of his second stint with the club, having previously played for them in 2016.
