Orlando Pirates look set to extend the contract of one of their key players, goalkeeper Richard Ofori. Sources have revealed that the Buccaneers are understood to be ready to offer the shot-stopper a two-year deal.
As previously reported by PSLSA, Ofori’s contract is set to expire on 30 June, with the club keen to open talks with the player for a new deal. A source close to the club told the Siya crew that “other teams could have already poached him” but the club wanted to keep him for longer.
The 29-year-old joined Orlando Pirates in 2020 from Maritzburg United, and is still viewed as an important part of the team. Ofori has been out of action due to injury, which also prevented his participation at the FIFA World Cup. Talks regarding the player’s future are expected to be finalized in the coming weeks.
