On Friday evening, Mamelodi Sundowns extended their lead at the top of the DStv Premiership table to 10 points after registering a 2-0 victory over Richards Bay.
Coach Rulani Mokwena admitted that he was forced to make substitutions as the Brazilians had run out of legs in the second half.
Speaking to SuperSport after the match, Mokwena said, “To be honest today we ran a little bit out of legs you know, that was the only reason we made the subs but sometimes it’s important that the team stays together, suffers together but we couldn’t keep them together even though they were playing so well because we ran out of legs.”
The Sundowns tactician added that he didn’t want to make substitutions as the team is like a baby and must enjoy the good moments and suffer through the bad moments together.
However, the midweek game and the third game in a short space of time meant that he had to make the changes.
Despite the fatigue, Mokwena praised his team for their hard work and effort, saying, “We did our best, congratulations to everyone involved.” The victory saw Sundowns open up a 10-point lead at the top of the table.
