Truter praises Sekhukhune players for beating Chiefs

On Sunday 23 July, Sekhukhune United head coach Brandon Truter expressed his gratitude to his players for adapting to his tactics following their win over Kaizer Chiefs. The victory saw Sekhukhune climb to tenth spot on the DStv Premiership table, their second successive win under Truter.

Speaking to SuperSport TV, Truter praised his players for sticking to the plan and managing the game. “Still work in progress, but I’m just happy with the efforts. The guys stuck to the plan as well and then we had to manage it once we took the lead. We had to manage it, we had to…it’s a question of when do you close shop you understand,” he said.

The former AmaZulu tactician also noted that his team is a high-pressing side, and that they closed shop around the 79th minute. “We closed I think around about the 79th minute we closed, but we always set them up like that. The square passes at the back. We’re a high-pressing team, you can see it now. There were so many opportunities to turn it over and it was the same in the last game against Marumo where we turn over in a pressing situation so ja we are a pressing team, counter-pressing team,” he said.

Truter concluded by thanking the players for being humble and taking in the information he has given them. He also thanked God for the victory, noting that they are a praying team. “I just say thank you to the guys for being so humble, taking in a lot of information that is different to what was previous here. So, I just say thank you to the guys for the three points, thank you to God and give him all the praises. We’re a praying team so many believers in this team as well. That’s what we take power from and I can just say thank you and all praise to God,” he said.
