Chiefs Drop Pursuit of Attacker, Two Contenders Enter the Race?

According to reports, former Kaizer Chiefs target Fiston Kalala Mayele could be the subject of interest from two other teams in the South African Premiership. The DR Congo international has reportedly been tracked by Amakhosi and is still keen on plying his trade in the elite league come next season.

A source close to the player’s camp has indicated that both AmaZulu and SuperSport United have entered the race for the player’s signature. The source told the Siya crew, “I don’t want to drag the names for now, but I can confide in you that these two teams have been monitoring the player. What I know is that they have contacts in Tanzania who update them on the player’s progress and if all goes well without hiccups, he will join one of them. But it will also depend on Yanga, as they have an option to renew his contract which expires in August this year.”

Mayela, 28, joined Yanga in 2021 and was the Tanzanian Premier League’s second top goalscorer last season. It is understood that Chiefs made an approach for the attacker, but the deal fell through due to a failure to agree on terms.
