On Tuesday, 14th March, Chippa United avoided a giant-killing act with a 2-0 victory over Mpheni Home Defenders in the Nedbank Cup.
Ronald Pfumbidzai opened the scoring on the half-hour mark with a strike at the near post, before Diego Appollis doubled the lead with a strike in the box ten minutes after his introduction.
Despite Mpheni having the momentum in the closing stages, Stanley Nwabali pulled off a crucial save to keep the Chilli Boys’ lead intact and secure their spot in the quarter-finals.
