Cape Town Spurs have taken a drastic step in their coaching department following a poor start to the season. The DStv Premiership side, sitting at the bottom of the standings, have parted ways with Head Coach Shaun Bartlett.
The club announced the termination of Bartlett’s contract on their social media platforms, citing an extensive review and results as the reasons for the move.
The statement read: “Following an extensive review and discussions with Shaun Bartlett and taking into consideration the current set of results – we have mutually agreed to the termination of the Head Coaches contract with immediate effect.

“The club wish to place on record our appreciation for Shaun’s work during his time at the club most significantly promoting the club back to the PSL. We recognise this is not an easy decision for all parties, but it has been taken with the club’s long-term interest at heart. Everyone at Cape Town Spurs wishes Shaun Bartlett all the best in his future coaching career.”
The club have also announced the arrival of Sean Conner as their new technical director and have already begun the re-structure of the coaching set up. A shortlist of candidates has been identified and an announcement is expected imminently.
News reaching the Siya crew is that assistant coach Nasief Morris as well as Calvin Marlin have also parted ways with the club.
The decision to part ways with Bartlett comes after a difficult start to the season for Cape Town Spurs, who are yet to register a win in the Premiership.
The club will be hoping that their new coaching set up can help them turn their fortunes around and climb up the standings.
