Orlando Pirates have signed Patrick Maswanganyi, who has been a revelation among the new arrivals at the club this season. Maswanganyi, formerly of SuperSport United, spoke to the media ahead of the MTN8 Cup final against Mamelodi Sundowns on Saturday at Moses Mabhida Stadium, and said he was surprised when he received a last minute call informing him of his move to Bucs.
“No, I didn’t expect to move to Pirates. It was a last minute call and I was told that I will be joining Pirates. That was a surprise to me but I was excited to come and join such a great team,” Maswanganyi told the media.
He added that he is honoured to be playing with players like Vincent Pule, Thembinkosi Lorch and Monnapule Saleng, as he is learning a lot from them.
“It feels amazing for me and I am able to learn a lot from them. They have been here and they know what it means to be here. They have been playing in big games and I am just starting now. I speak to them almost everyday and ask them to help me. They help me at training and before games and I am grateful that I have people like them around me,” Maswanganyi said.
Orlando Pirates will face Mamelodi Sundowns in the MTN8 Cup final on Saturday at Moses Mabhida Stadium. Maswanganyi is expected to play a crucial role in the game, as the Buccaneers look to win the coveted trophy.
